This is a list of online sellers with whom I have had a positive experience. Note that many reputable online sellers are not listed. I only list sellers here with whom I have transacted on multiple occasions and who have demonstrated to me that the coins I receive will meet or exceed my expectations. Further, I do not list the auction sites already identified on the Suggested Resources page.
Northeast Numismatics. https://www.northeastcoin.com. An online seller of certified coins. Its inventory is somewhat limited but changes often. Its website’s search capabilities could be improved, and its listing of coins that have already sold is a bit frustrating. However, I find its inventory reasonably priced, and I visit the site regularly to see what coins are available.
The Penny Lady. https://thepennylady.com. An online seller of certified copper coins, primarily small cents. The proprietor participates in coin shows in my area, and I have had the opportunity to meet her and have bought coins at those shows. Anecdotally, on one occasion, I was bidding on a decent-quality, difficult-to-find coin, a 1936 Satin Proof Lincoln Cent, listed on Great Collections, but was outbid. The next day, I found the coin listed on her website. Apparently, she is my competition.
Profile Coins. https://profilecoins.com. On occasion, I am looking for low-cost, non-certified, high-quality proof coins of recent mintage. I am willing to ignore my rule to avoid sellers who use stock photos on such coins, as these coins are readily available. This seller has a decent inventory of such coins, and its return policies mitigate the risk of being unhappy with a purchase. The seller also lists some earlier non-certified coins and some certified coins, but their inventory of the latter is limited. Pay attention to the fine print for those coins – each listing indicates whether the images are of the actual coin to be received.
